Earlier in the week, the New York Jets released former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell after initially being unable to trade the veteran rusher. Shortly after officially being an unrestricted free agent and a former member of the Jets organization, it appeared as though Bell has already narrowed down his list of potential suitors to three teams — the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins.

Flash forward a few days to Thursday evening, and Bell has apparently chosen his next destination as Kansas City have reportedly emerged as the next landing spot for the newly-minted free agent. According to a Thursday evening report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, Bell and the Chiefs have agreed to a one-year deal that will run through the remainder of the 2020-21 campaign.

Because the Jets still owe Bell quite a few dollars after already paying him a hefty amount during what ultimately a brief 17-game partnership between the two sides, the longtime Steelers running back was free to sign with any suitor that would have him as money would be no issue. With Bell picking the Chiefs over the Bills and Dolphins in addition to some unnamed franchises in all likelihood, it seems as though the versatile offensive weapon is eyeing a potential title in Kansas City.

With winning and organizational structure clearly at the forefront of his mind over the course of the last several days, Bell can now become a veteran compliment to rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who Kansas City selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of LSU. Although Edwards-Helaire will surely continue to serve as key focus in the Chiefs backfield, Bell clearly understands that head coach Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy give him the best shot at shifting around the field and being used as an offensive weapon rather than solely as a running back.

Thanks to the versatility of both Bell and the Chiefs in addition to the slew of weapons that are already employed by Kansas City, things could get very interested — and in a hurry — for the surging AFC West franchise.

Le'Veon Bell will have more receiving than rushing yards with the Chiefs

Because of the presence of rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the Kansas City Chiefs will have unlimited options when it comes to fellow running back Le'Veon Bell. Because Bell is more than capable as a rusher out of the backfield, he will certainly see his touches while spelling Edwards-Helaire. However, Bell adds yet another wrinkle to this already dynamic offense as he has the ability to catch the football out of the backfield in addition to possessing the ability to line up in the slot as a wide receiver as well. This versatility from Bell will allow him to feature all over the field for head coach Andy Reid as the Chiefs will definitely get creative moving forward. Despite his recent struggles with the New York Jets and unfortunate falling out with the Pittsburgh Steelers, it is often forgotten that Bell was once one of the best running backs in all of football. Not only that, but he is still probably one of the best receiving backs in the game today. Thanks to Bell's ability to catch the football and maneuver in the open field, it wouldn't be too surprising to see him end the 2020-21 regular season with more receiving yards than rushing yards as a member of the Chiefs.

Le'Veon Bell will score at least 10 total touchdowns with the Chiefs

It is no secret that the Kansas City Chiefs can score some points on offense — which may still somehow be an understatement at this point. With former league MVP and quarterback Patrick Mahomes leading the way for the Chiefs, there is no reason that this team can't up the ante even further with former Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell on board. Although the Chiefs often connect on some huge plays down field, Kansas City also finds itself in the red zone quite often, which should present even more opportunities for Bell moving forward. Because Bell can become an incredible red zone target for Mahomes and company, it wouldn't be all that surprising to see the newly-signed free agent reach the double-digit mark in total touchdowns before 2020-21 comes to a close. Between breaking off some big plays — both via the ground game and passing attack — and securing a few red zone touchdowns, Bell will not have a problem scoring touchdowns with the Chiefs like he did with the lowly Jets.

Le'Veon Bell will win a Super Bowl with the Chiefs

It is quite difficult to repeat as Super Bowl Champions in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs currently holding onto the title as top dog from a season ago. However, 2020 has been a crazy year — and then some — so why not add some more crazy to the mix (but not too much more crazy, of course)? Although the Chiefs have yet to truly come into form in 2020-21, presumably due to the fact that the team was a bit overworked last season alongside the notion of an unprecedented offseason this time around, it is only a matter of time before Kansas City once again asserts itself as the best team in the NFL. As well-rounded as it gets on both sides of the line of scrimmage, it wouldn't be too farfetched to think that the Chiefs could repeat as Super Bowl Champions in 2020-21. With former Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Jets running back Le'Veon Bell gearing up to join the party in Kansas City, it will simply become too difficult for opposing defenses to prepare, game plan and execute against such a deadly offensive attack. The only way that the Chiefs will be ousted from Super Bowl contention is if a team magically outscores them in a shootout — which is currently a very unlikely scenario. There are definitely some legitimate teams out there as it stands today, but the addition of Bell may very well put the Chiefs over the top.
