The Pittsburgh Steelers are going in a new direction at quarterback after Ben Roethlisberger retired. They went out and signed former second overall pick Mitchell Trubisky to a two-year deal.

Trubisky will be the heir to Roethlisberger, but his play style is completely different. Roethlisberger was a pocket passer, while Trubisky is a mobile quarterback that can create plays outside of the pocket.

Pittsburgh has a championship-level defense, and they have a shot at making a run in the playoffs. It could come down to how Trubisky performs, as quarterback play is vital to team success. However, Tribusky's different style of play could be exactly what the Steelers need to make a deeper playoff run.

Last season, he was the backup for the Buffalo Bills behind Josh Allen. However, he is 29-21 in his career as a starting quarterback.

While he is not an elite-level quarterback, he has a ton of potential. That being said, here are three bold predictions for Mitchell Trubisky with the Steelers in 2022.

3 Bold Predictions For Mitchell Trubisky With Steelers In 2022

3. Mitchell Trubisky helps Steelers finish as a top 10 offense

While the Steelers have a talented roster, their offense has held back their top-tier defense. Having a mobile quarterback should help Pittsburgh's offense improve drastically.

Head coach Mike Tomlin wanted to acquire a mobile quarterback and said this (via Renegade Blitz):

“Man, quarterback mobility is valued. Not only by me but by everyone. It’s just a component of today’s game, and increasingly so.”

A mobile quarterback opens up so much for the Steelers' offense. Running back Najee Harris had a fantastic rookie campaign with 307 rushing attempts for 1,200 yards and seven touchdowns. He also contributed in the passing game, with 74 receptions for 467 yards and three touchdowns.

This earned him a Pro Bowl nod, but his game could be even better. Trubisky's ability to run will keep the defense honest and open up lanes for Harris.

2. He gets 25 plus touchdowns

Mitchell Trubisky is an underrated quarterback, as he made it Pro Bowl back in 2018. In that season, he threw for 3,223 yards along with 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

He also rushed for 421 yards and three touchdowns. With a team built for great success, Trubisky should get back to putting up numbers like that. He is great at making plays outside of the pocket, as defenses have to pick between containing the scramble or staying on receivers.

With Harris at running back and talented receivers in Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool, Trubisky should have a resurgent season.

1. Mitchell Trubisky leads Pittsburgh to the playoffs

Trubisky has shown the ability to lead a team to the playoffs, as he brought the Chicago Bears to the playoffs twice. Pittsburgh has a supremely talented defense, and a newly built offense will help them get into the postseason.

He has been a winner despite not getting much credit from the media. It won't be easy to get into the postseason, though, as the AFC is loaded with talented teams.

Almost every team in the conference has a shot at making a playoff run. They are also in a tough AFC North division with the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals are coming off a Super Bowl appearance, while Baltimore and Cleveland have well-rounded rosters.

Trubisky may not be who Steelers fans envisioned to take over after Roethlisberger, but he is a great addition to the team.
