If Tiger Woods was going to be at the 2022 Masters, most people would have guessed it would be as an honorary spectator. Maybe he would get a nice ovation or something of that nature, and that would be it. Instead, Tiger Woods is reportedly planning to compete in the 2022 Masters.

Woods has been building back strength following his devastating car crash. There is no telling how well he will perform after not playing in a high-end tournament for so long, but this is the great Tiger Woods we are talking about. He is a five-time Masters champion and most recently won at Augusta in 2019.

He was asked if he believes he can win the tournament this year. He replied by the stating the following:

“I do. I can hit it just fine. I don’t have any qualms about what I can do physically from a golf standpoint. Walking’s the hard part. This is normally not an easy walk to begin with. Now given the condition my leg is in it gets a little more difficult. 72 holes is a long road and it’s going to be a tough challenge and a challenge that I’m up for.”

If Woods says he is up for the challenge then we have no reason to doubt him.

Without further ado, let's take a look at three bold predictions for Tiger Woods in the 2022 Masters.

Tiger Woods will Start Slow, then Heat Up

Playing the Masters is a marathon, not a race. You might argue that is the case for any golf tournament. But playing at Augusta takes it to a whole new level. It is a long, strenuous golf course where one bad hole can eat you alive. But Woods knows how to navigate this course. He is going to attack day one of the tournament from a very strategic standpoint.

However, he will likely struggle to open the tournament on Thursday. The crowd is going to be nothing short of rambunctious which could lead to an over-energized Woods.

But he will rebound once he settles in. And that should come during his last nine holes on day one. Woods fares well under pressure and he might almost prefer to play the role of underdog to open things up.

Woods will be in Contention through Sunday

The Masters is a 72 hole journey. And Tiger Woods is going to make the most of it this weekend.

He will do just well enough to continue playing on Saturday, which will end up being his best day of the tournament.

By Saturday, he will be fully settled in and ready to roll. The nagging injuries, boisterous crowd, and doubtful naysayers will fade into the distance and we will see Tiger Woods play an excellent round of golf on the third day of the Masters. He likely will still be chasing the leader, but Woods will have a realistic shot of winning heading into Sunday.

As much as I hope I'm wrong, I can't predict Woods will win the whole thing on Sunday. Durability concerns will be a factor. However, he will still post an overall impressive round of golf and keep things interesting.

Tiger Woods gets the Loudest Applause for a Non-Winner in the History of Golf

When Tiger Woods sinks his put on hole 18 to cap off his 2022 Masters performance on Sunday afternoon, the crowd is going to go wild. Although he may not be the winner, Tiger Woods is going to receive the loudest applause for a non-winner in the history of golf.

And if he upsets the odds and does win… it is safe to say that your TV speakers may get blown out.
