Can Kliff Kingsbury turn the Cardinals stagnant offense around?

The Arizona Cardinals were horrible last season, absolutely horrible. Now that new head coach is with the team there is a good chance things could turn around, but it's going to take a lot of work and a completely revamped look to do so.

Unfortunately, a lot of the Cardinals' struggles were in due part to perhaps the league's worst offensive line as well a rookie quarterback trying to make the most of a bad situation.

Josh Rosen played as well as he could have, but if he were to stand any kind of chance, the offensive line sure made life hard on him. The offensive weapons were there to a certain extent. Running back David Johnson is without a doubt the team's best player, but Arizona has a nice tandem at wide receiver as well. Rookie receiver Christian Kirk and veteran Larry Fitzgerald were a great duo until Kirk went down with an injury late in the season.

Kingsbury has a great offensive mind, and it's clear he is the type of coach the Cardinals should have gone for all along after giving Steve Wilks one season to coach a team in the middle of a rebuild. The Cardinals could benefit tremendously with Kingsbury at the helm, and it'll be interesting to see how he uses the players he currently has as well as adding any potential talent.

Who should the Cardinals take first overall?

The Cardinals hold the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, and while the reason they have it isn't necessarily a great thing, the ability to take any player is a luxury any team would love to have.

Unfortunately, now that Kingsbury is the head coach, there is a real possibility the Cardinals will pass on the consensus number one projected pick in Ohio State's defensive end Nick Bosa. Kingsbury has voiced his praise for Heisman winning quarterback Kyler Murray. However, Arizona just used their 2018 first-round pick on Josh Rosen so it wouldn't make much sense unless the Cardinals trade Rosen away.

Murray could be the once in a lifetime player Kingsbury sees him as, and it's clear the offense he will be implementing could be the perfect fit for Murray.

Who should the Cardinals add this offseason on the free agent market?

The real question is who should they not add. Realistically the Cardinals do have some great players already on both sides of the ball.

Unfortunately, the offense will struggle until they choose to assess the need at offensive line. The Cardinals ranked last in passing yards (157.7), rushing (83.9), and points per game (14.1) last season according to NFL.com.

There are several free agents the Cardinals go for to bolster the offensive line including center Matt Paradis, offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James, and offensive tackle Trent Brown.

As well as the big men up front, the Cardinals could afford to add some offensive weapons as well. Wide receivers Tyrell Williams, former Cardinals John Brown, Golden Tate, and Robby Anderson could all be viable playmakers for Arizona in free agency.

The defense is the team's strong suit no doubt, but there are some weak spots as well. The most significant addition the Cardinals could seek out would be another pass rusher to complement Chandler Jones.

It's surprising to see the complete one-eighty the team did since making the NFC Championship Game just a few seasons ago. Both sides of the ball could benefit from some new players, and it'll be interesting to see how active the Cardinals are in NFL free agency.
