The Los Angeles Chargers earned a big win on Monday night over the Las Vegas Raiders. This was an important AFC West showdown that put Los Angeles in first place in the division. We'll see if they can maintain the top ranking as their division is extremely competitive so far. It's time to continue our NFL takeaways series with a Chargers Week 4 takeaway.

Defensively, LA was able to bottle up a Las Vegas offense that has been otherwise eccentric. This helped the Chargers take an early lead in the game and the Raiders just couldn't catch up. It was an impressive performance from the Bolts, as they shut down a high-powered Vegas offense.

On the other side of the ball, the Chargers looked as good as ever. The offense was rolling on all cylinders throughout this contest. Jared Cook returned to form while Austin Ekeler proved he's a legitimate threat in the running back position. Additionally, Justin Herbert looked like a superstar on the NFL's center stage. With that said, here are three Chargers Week 4 takeaways from their Monday night matchup versus the Raiders.

Chargers Week 4 Takeaways

3. Jared Cook looked like he was back in his prime

He's had a long career and has been a consistent tight end throughout most of his time in the league. Jared Cook looked phenomenal against the Raiders, as he ended the night with six receptions, 70 yards, and one touchdown.

It was nice to see Cook get involved early on, but it seemed to be part of the Chargers game plan. Las Vegas was adamant in slowing down Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, as LA's wide receiver duo combined for just 47 receiving yards. This allowed Jared Cook to get open down the field and his quarterback found him often. We'll see if he can string together solid performances. If Cook can do that, the Chargers passing attack just became much more versatile.

2. Austin Ekeler is the ultimate weapon

Austin Ekeler was all over the place on Monday night. He's a great running back that can provide consistency out of the backfield. At the same time, he serves as an extra receiver as well. Ekeler is a major contributor for the Chargers and he proved that in their game against the Raiders. He finished the night with 117 rushing yards, 28 receiving yards, and two total touchdowns.

He has a unique skill set that allows him to be a focal point of the Chargers' offense. The Raiders had no answers for Ekeler throughout this game. We should see Austin Ekeler continue playing a large role for Los Angeles as he's easily one of the best running backs in the league right now.

1. Justin Herbert is a superstar in the making

After dominating the NFL his rookie season, Justin Herbert has continued playing at a high level. He looks comfortable in the pocket, throws with precise accuracy, and isn't afraid to let it fly either. Herbert is a fun quarterback to watch and he's already close to superstar status.

Justin Herbert is one of the best young quarterbacks in the league already. If he continues playing as he has, then the Chargers have a superstar quarterback on their hands. Look for LA to lean on Herbert throughout the season, as he gives the Chargers their best chance of succeeding.
