Earl Thomas is a star safety may have plenty of options available to him during this NFL offseason — but here are three options that most don't consider as viable for him.

Yes, most people think that Thomas would be well-suited to play for teams like the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers.

But there are three other darkhorse options that might serve Thomas better in the long run.

New York Giants

  • Throughout the course of his career, Thomas has destroyed the Giants each time he's faced off against them. The only way to stop the bleeding is to trade for him. The Giants most likely wouldn’t be willing to part with a draft pick because they won’t have any compensatory draft picks in 2019 so they will need to keep all their draft picks. However, there's only one thing that may keep Thomas from coming to the East Coast: Landon Collins, who chews up the scenery when he hits the field. It's highly likely that the duo would butt heads too much to make a positive difference for the Big Blue.

Chicago Bears

  • Khalil Mack and Eddie Jackson are already excellent players on their own — but just imagine what they could do with someone like Thomas to complete the lineup. They’d have Mack, Smith, and Danny Trevathan pressuring the quarterback to force errant throws, and Thomas to pick them off.

Los Angeles Rams

  • With a lineup that includes Ndamukong Suh, Marcus Peters, and Aqib Talib on the defense, and Aaron Donald wreaking havoc inside the trenches, the only place that they really need help is in the safety zone, and that's where Earl Thomas would flourish — and flourish well.

It should be interesting to see where Thomas ultimately ends up once he finally negotiates his contract, and to see whether he goes with a dark horse selection or a more standard selection.
