Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the No. 11 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and the Los Angeles Clippers have to feel very good about their future with him running the point. After making a run to the playoffs even with the midseason trades of Avery Bradley and Tobias Harris, the Clippers pushed the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

During his rookie season with the Clippers, Gilgeous-Alexander ended up averaging 10.8 points per game to go along with 3.3 assists and 2.8 rebounds. He shot 47.6 percent from the field overall and knocked down 36.7 percent of his three-point attempts.

There are still many question marks surrounding the Clippers. Many of those questions have to do with what they are going to do this offseason in free agency. Some have predicted that Kawhi Leonard or Kevin Durant could end up signing with L.A., but there is no guarantee that they will get an elite star.

Even without signing a star, the Clippers can still take a big step forward next year. Gilgeous-Alexander has star potential and there are lots of ways for him to improve this offseason.

Let's dive in and take a look at the three improvements he must make this offseason for Los Angeles.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Clippers

3. Become an Even More Dangerous Three-Point Shooter

Granted, his three-point shooting was not bad at all last season. He shot 36.7 percent from the arc, as previously mentioned. Those numbers are solid, but they are not going to take his offensive game to the next level.

Gilgeous-Alexander is capable of getting to the rim whenever he wants. He is long and has an excellent first step and athleticism. If he can improve his three-point shooting, defenses are going to have a very difficult time deciding how to defend him.

2. Continue Improving As a Leader for the Clippers

Next up, the Clippers are going to need to see more leadership from their young point guard in his second season. He has the game and talent to become a star, but leadership is an incredibly valuable thing for a point guard to have.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nuggets

Los Angeles may bring in a guy like Leonard, who can become the leader for the team. They may even be comfortable with Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell being the leaders from a vocal standpoint. Gilgeous-Alexander needs to be the point guard that can get his teammates where they need to go and lead both vocally and with his game.

1. Become a Better Creator for His Teammates

Finally, the main flaw in his game as a rookie was his ability to create for his teammates. With his ability to get into the paint, this improvement should be one easy to make. He simply needs to become better at choosing when to score himself or pass to an open teammate.

After playing a full season and having an entire offseason under his belt, this area is something that should improve naturally. Gilgeous-Alexander is already a very bright talent and the Clippers are excited about his future. If he can improve these three things, the sky is the limit for him.
