It was a season to forget for the New York Jets, however, the franchise should make improvements for next year. They have some exciting young players on the roster and the team must continue building. New York is in a great position to make some noise, but they must make the correct decisions throughout the offseason. For that reason, we take a look at some of the Jets' major fixes that need to happen for them to make the NFL playoffs next year.

New York didn't do too great on the defensive end this season. They gave up a ton of points, as the offense had to play catch up in most games. We should see the Jets bring in a plethora of new players to the roster. Based on Robert Saleh's background, we should expect to see the front office build up the defensive line.

From there, the Jets should consider revamping the offense. The receiving core was a liability and it must be addressed. Elijah Moore showed he has the talent to be a star while Braxton Berrios was a pleasant surprise. However, the front office should search for some new receivers and a starting tight end. On top of that, it's time New York restructures the offensive line completely.

With that said, here are three Jets major fixes so they can make the NFL playoffs next year.

Jets Major Fixes for NFL Playoffs in 2022

3. Improve the defensive front seven

The secondary needs help as well, but the front seven controls the trenches. New York already has Quinnen Williams and Carl Lawson. Those are two solid players to build around. The upcoming NFL Draft should give the Jets some talented pass rushers who could drastically improve the defensive line.

This will make the Jets one of those hard-nosed defenses that are tough to play against. If they can stuff the run and get after the quarterback, New York will be able to stay within reach of their games next season. Improving the front seven should be a top priority for Robert Saleh and the front office.

2. Find more efficient pass options

As previously mentioned, Elijah Moore is an exciting young receiver the front office can build around. Additionally, Corey Davis can be a decent second or third option for the passing game. Regardless, it's time for the Jets to find reliable receivers to help Zach Wilson develop. Furthermore, New York should also consider beefing up the tight end position as well.

Between free agency and the NFL Draft, the Jets will have plenty of options to improve the receiving core. There are a handful of talented tight ends that should be available in the free-agent market while the draft is stocked with talented wide receivers once again. If everything goes accordingly, we should be looking at a much different offense in New York next season.

1. Restructure the offensive line

This has to be the number one priority for New York. Zach Wilson was scrambling for his life more often than not. Although the Jets struggled all season, Wilson looked solid throughout most of the year and most of his problems could be blamed on the poor play from the offensive line. A lot needs to happen for this team to make the NFL playoffs next year, but revamping the offensive line is a nice start.

Look for the Jets to strengthen the trenches any way they can. Whether they draft some rookies or sign some veterans, New York should be searching for the best offensive line available. Not only would the pass protection improve, but the run game would receive a boost as well. This is a necessary task for the front office as it's the quickest way for this team to become competitive once again.
