The Denver Broncos failed to make the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season in 2019. The last time that the Broncos were playing in a game beyond December was when Peyton Manning was the starting quarterback.

At the least, Denver seemed to find their hopeful franchise quarterback in Drew Lock this season. Now, with an apparent quarterback in place, the Broncos need to spend this offseason bettering the rest of the roster.

Ahead of the offseason, the Broncos are expected to have nearly $60 million in cap space available, per Spotrac. That amount of cap space could make Denver one of the big spenders in NFL free agency.

Besides free agency, John Elway—the GM of the Broncos—is hoping to have a strong draft. Entering the 2020 NFL Draft, Denver is projected to own 12 overall selections.

Given that, this could be the offseason that leads the Broncos back to being a playoff team next season. All that being said, here are three moves the Broncos must make during the offseason.

3. Re-Sign Chris Harris Jr.

The Broncos continue to lose some of the players that were part of the 2015 Super Bowl team. To continue that trend, there's a chance that Denver loses Chris Harris Jr. to free agency.

Prior to the 2019 season, the Broncos gave Harris a raise in the final year of his contract—which is unusual in the NFL. That could be a ‘thank you' to Harris for giving the organization nine great seasons. On the other hand, it could be to show Harris that they want to keep him long-term.

Nevertheless, Harris is likely going to consider his options before making a choice on where he plays in 2020. It'll be up to the Broncos to make sure they are one of the teams that offer him a deal.

2. Re-Sign Connor McGovern

When people speak about free agency, not many are enticed with the offensive linemen available. While signing an offensive lineman isn't a flashy move, it could be the difference between a Super Bowl or a first-round exit.

Provided that, it would be wise for the Broncos to keep the formidable members on their offensive line intact. Among the better members of the offensive line, Connor McGovern is one of the more reliable players.

This season, McGovern started in all 16 games as the center for Denver. Even though fans may want to target a big name in free agency, re-signing McGovern would be a phenomenal move by the Broncos.

1. Draft Henry Ruggs

Before Drew Lock made his first career start in the NFL, the team already traded Emmanuel Sanders to the San Francisco 49ers. As a result, Courtland Sutton and rookie Noah Fant became the two best options in the passing game.

Despite Sutton showing potential as a star wide receiver, the Broncos need to add another viable wide receiver. Seeing that this year's draft class is loaded with wide receivers, Denver should have their sights set on Henry Ruggs.

Ruggs is an explosive wide receiver that can create big plays down the field while he's an underrated route runner. Giving Lock a vertical threat in the aerial attack would pay dividends for the young signal-caller.
