The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off of a 2-14 season in Zac Taylor's first as head coach. They finished with the worst record in the league and were gifted the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Every offseason is important, but this one has a little more importance for the Bengals. They are coming off a putrid season and that can be survived if they nail the No. 1 pick. A team cannot afford to win two games multiple years in a row. The Bengals need to make some moves so that they can return to relevance soon.

Here are three crucial moves they must make.

3. Extend Joe Mixon/A.J. Green

Green has been dealing with injuries over the last two seasons, but he is a special player when healthy. Mixon has proven that he is a No. 1 option in the backfield. Cincinnati is a team that needs to add good players and keep the ones that they already have.

Both Mixon and Green are leaders on and off the field. Having them in the offense makes things easier for Taylor and a certain young quarterback that they will most likely take first overall. Green would come at a discount price given his age and health risks. Mixon would require more money, but it is a move that is completely necessary.

2. Hire A GM

Enough is enough. It is time for the Bengals to bring in an actual general manager. Duke Tobin has been acting as general manager, but he is actually the director of player personnel. This is not a recipe for success.

The Bengals are trying to dig themselves out of a huge hole. They need a football mind in their front office that can oversee the organization and bring in the right players. Tobin can continue his work with player personnel, but it is time to bring in a general manager.

1. Draft Joe Burrow

This seems like a match made in heaven, right? Burrow attended Athens High School in The Plains, Ohio and originally committed to Ohio State. He has a chance to return to Ohio to play for one of their professional teams.

Burrow is coming off of arguably the best statistical season in college football history. He led LSU to a perfect 15-0 record and a National Championship. Burrow would bring immediate publicity and star power to a team that is in desperate need of both. No player is a guarantee coming out of college, but this is the most necessary and biggest move that the Bengals could make this offseason.
