The Denver Nuggets had a stellar 43-22 record before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19. Denver was in third place in the rugged Western Conference standings and looked primed to go on a deep postseason run.

In 2018-19, head coach Michael Malone guided the Nuggets franchise to the playoffs for the first time since 2013. Denver made it to the second round of the postseason, where the team fought hard but fell to the Portland Trail Blazers in seven epic games.

Nuggets fans are hoping the 2019-20 campaign resumes since Nikola Jokic and Co. were clicking on all cylinders. The two-time All-Star was averaging 20.2 points, 10.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists, all while continuing to establish himself as one of the most versatile centers in NBA history.

It would be a bummer for Nuggets supporters if the season ends up getting canceled, but if it does happen, it doesn't mean the end for the team. In fact, there are some key moves Denver president of basketball operations Tim Connelly could consider to keep the team in the title hunt.

3. Re-sign Paul Millsap

Millsap becomes an unrestricted free agent whenever the 2020 free agency period begins. He's making $30.5 million this season.

The Nuggets should look to re-sign Millsap since he's been a great frontcourt partner for Jokic. However, Denver will have to hope they can convince Millsap and his camp to lower that dollar amount a little bit, especially since the NBA is going to lose millions due to COVID-19.

A four-time All-Star, Millsap averaged 12.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 44 games for the Nuggets this 2019-20 season. He was shooting 48.6 percent from the field, 44.0 percent from beyond the arc and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.

2. Sign Jerami Grant to extension

The Nuggets made a great move by getting Grant from the Oklahoma City Thunder last offseason. The high-flyer exceeded all expectations in Denver.

Grant put up 11.6 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists before the season was suspended. He's making $9.3 million in this campaign and has a player option worth the same amount for 2020-21.

The Nuggets would be wise to sign Grant to a contract extension as soon as possible.

Retaining Grant is said to be a priority for the Nuggets this offseason, according to Mike Singer of the Denver Post. Grant was highly productive filling in for Millsap when the veteran was injured.

Grant has career averages of 9.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists. He is the nephew of NBA champion Horace Grant.

1. Sign Kyle Korver

Korver will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer and the Nuggets should try and steal him away from the Milwaukee Bucks.

Surrounding Jokic and Millsap with more shooters will only make the Nuggets' offense better. Korver, one of the top shooters in NBA history, shot 41.5 percent from beyond the arc in the 50 games he played this 2019-20.

Jokic commands double and sometimes even triple teams when he's in the post operating. Teams can’t leave Korver open from deep, so if he was to join the Nuggets, Jamal Murray and Gary Harris could drive to the hole on Korver's side of the floor since the two Denver guards will have an easier path getting to the basket.

Defenders are always going to be draped all over Korver. With that said, Murray, Harris, Jokic and Millsap would have more room to get to the lane, among other things, if the Nuggets sign the veteran sharpshooter.

These are just some moves for the Nuggets to consider this offseason. Denver, though, is in good hands with Connelly and Malone leading the charge.
