The Carson Wentz era officially ended for the Philadelphia Eagles when they traded the quarterback to the Indianapolis Colts earlier in the offseason. The Eagles will roll with Jalen Hurts, who has shown potential and had four starts last season, and they made another trade by moving back from the No. 6 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to No. 12.

Philadelphia has needs all around the roster, but below are three perfect options for that 12th pick.

3. Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama

If DeVonta Smith is off the board when the Eagles pick, they can go for his Alabama teammate in Jaylen Waddle. He is a burner equipped with game-breaking speed who can take a top off the defense. Waddle stretches the field and will open up holes in the defense for his teammates to exploit in the NFL.

Waddle brings back memories of his former teammate in Tuscaloosa, Henry Ruggs III. Waddle can even be used in the returns game.

Last season, Waddle suffered an ankle injury that took him out for a couple of months. These types of injuries can be worrisome for players who rely on speed so much, but he should be good to go.

2. DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama

DeVonta Smith would be the more ideal choice over Jaylen Waddle, and perhaps this could be the year the Eagles draft the right wide receiver. J.J. Arcega-Whiteside was picked before DK Metcalf and Jalen Reagor was drafted just before Justin Jefferson. Because of these picks and more, Philadelphia has a lackluster receiving corps. Hurts is going to need more help from this unit so he can have a fighting chance in showing improvement.

Selecting Smith would help alleviate the bitter taste from whiffing on the aforementioned picks. The Heisman Trophy winner may not be a freak athlete and does have a slight build at 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, but he is as polished as they come. Smith is a smooth route-runner and can regularly get separation from defensive backs.

Smith has steady hands and will not remind Eagles fans of Nelson Agholor and his drops.

1. Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina

The Eagles gave up draft capital to acquire three-time Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay from the Detroit Lions last year. His performance was down from previous years, but he is their best corner moving forward and could have a bounce-back season. It would be pertinent for the front office to find a high-upside defensive back to play opposite Slay.

The division rival Dallas Cowboys are picking ahead of the Eagles and are also in dire need of help at corner. This means that the top-ranked prospect at the position in Patrick Surtain II from Alabama will most likely be gone by the 12th pick.

Philadelphia can get the next-best prospect in South Carolina's Jaycee Horn. This is not to say he is a consolation prize, because Horn also has lots of potential. At 6-foot-1, 205 pounds, he has the ideal size to play outside and does so with physicality and a mean streak. These can set the tone for opposing receivers and make it a long game for them. The downside to this style is he might rack up more penalties than expected. Horn is especially adept at press coverage and does not allow his man to get separation.
