The Los Angeles Rams have made big moves this offseason with the hopes of making a push for the Super Bowl. They should finish as one of the NFL's top teams this year, as the defense is stacked with the offense being vastly improved. We'll see how the roster looks on Saturday night, as they take on the Los Angeles Chargers in their preseason opener.

Even though the roster is loaded with talent, the team isn't perfect by any means. The interior offensive line is a bit concerning, and there is an open competition for the third wide receiver spot. Losing Cam Akers doesn't help the Rams much either, as they planned for him to be heavily involved before the injury.

It'll be interesting to see how the Rams finalize their roster, but they have plenty of talent to choose from. Although Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp dominate the target shares in LA, two other receivers could also make a huge impact. Additionally, one standout linebacker on the team could give the defense a huge boost this year. With that said, here are three pleasant surprises standing out in the Rams training camp.

Rams Offense

Van Jefferson

The Rams have a ton of receivers on the roster right now, but Van Jefferson has been standing out amongst most of them. The third spot on the depth chart is open and Jefferson is making a case he deserves the starting role. He's made some great catches in training camp, so as long as he's consistent, Jefferson should be involved in the Rams' offense moving forward.

The Rams have their preseason opener on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Chargers. We'll see how active Van Jefferson is throughout the game, as it could be an opportunity for him to earn a bigger role. Don't feel let down if he doesn't play, as that would actually indicate Jefferson will be heavily involved in the regular season.

DeSean Jackson

DeSean Jackson is becoming the ageless wonder. No matter where he goes, he finds a way to be one of the top passing options on the offense. He's still a speed demon which makes him a great fit for Matthew Stafford's big arm. Jackson might not be a featured wide receiver in the Rams offense, but he still has the ability to spread the field as a deep threat.

He likely won't play in the preseason opener, but we'll see. Sean McVay might want to give Jackson some reps to get more comfortable with the scheme. Either way, DeSean Jackson has been a bright spot in training camp, giving the Rams a fantastic group of receivers.

Rams Defense

Kenny Young

At the start of training camp, the inside linebacker position was a bit of a question mark for LA. However, Kenny Young has stepped up in a big way. He looks like the best linebacker on the team as he's nearly been given the starting role already. The Rams' coaching staff still must figure out who plays alongside him in their 3-4 defensive scheme, but Young's improvement takes some pressure off the position for now.

Los Angeles has a stacked defense as it is. For this reason, Kenny Young has an opportunity to thrive with a solid group around him. If his skillsets in training camp can translate to games, then the Rams defense should be one of the best in the league.
