The Los Angeles Lakers will be without Anthony Davis for the next two to three weeks minimum with a possibility of him missing more time after he injured his Achilles on Sunday night's game against the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers are right behind the Utah Jazz for the top seed in the Western Conference and should prepare to be without Davis for even longer.

They just won a title in Oct. 2020 and were the odds-on favorites to repeat in 2021. However, the loss of Davis, even for a month, could be devastating for this team. He's likely back by the All-Star break it shortly after, but the Lakers need to explore options to replace his spot for the time being.

The options aren't very good either, and the cap space they have makes this even more difficult. Nonetheless, don't count out general manager Rob Pelinka to swing a deal and improve this roster.

Here are three possible replacements for Davis as the Lakers shoot for a top seed in the conference.

Blake Griffin, LeBron James, Pistons, Lakers

3. Blake Griffin

Griffin is now available and the Detroit Pistons have said they are holding him out of the lineup while they figured out an arrangement. Sure, Griffin isn't the player he once was by any means. He's averaging 12.3 points with 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists this season in Detroit and has suffered serious regression over the past couple of seasons.

It's a far cry from the player he once was in the Lob City Clippers days. However, he doesn't need to be that player if he were to join the Lakers. All he needs to do is score a little, get some rebounds, and play some interior defense and the Lakers will be happy.

Griffin could start at the power forward position and play well next to Marc Gasol until Davis returns and then eventually slide into the bench unit.

His ending with the Clippers wasn't exactly perfect, and returning to Staples Center would allow him to stick it to his former team. His contract situation is a mess and really the only way it would work is if he gets bought out.

2. Mo Bamba

This is a buy-low candidate that makes a decent amount of sense for the Lakers, especially considering their financial situation. Bamba could come off the bench with Montrezl Harrell and provide solid minutes in the second unit.

Bamba, the former first-round pick out of Texas, has fallen out of the Orlando Magic rotation until recently due to the franchise's terrible injury luck. Even so, he's been underwhelming and doesn't appear to be part of the future plans for Orlando.

He took forever to recover from COVID-19 and has taken a backseat since. Bamba is averaging just 4.9 points and 3.7 boards in only 12 games for the Magic and at the very least they could send him away for a second-round draft pick.

Bamba is still on his rookie deal and would be cheap, which is perfect for the Lakers.

Lakers, LeBron James, Anthony Davis

1. Nobody

Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell could fill the void until Davis comes back, as unappealing as that might sound to some. The Lakers aren't in a good position financially to swing a big deal and Kuzma has been fantastic this year.

He's posting averages of 10.8 points and six boards to start the year and has found his niche on this team. He's had two double-doubles in the past 10 games and has scored double-digits in eight of those.

Harrell is going to benefit the most from Davis being out and should end up in the closing lineup more often than not. The fact of the matter is this: LeBron James is healthy and can carry this team a long way.

As much as this team wants to make a deal, it's going to be hard to find a quality replacement for Davis. It's probably best to ride out the storm and hope that Davis comes back sooner than later.
