Lonzo Ball has been mentioned in a lot of trade rumors over the past year and there is a new team that has come up as a potential landing spot. That team would be the Chicago Bulls, who are desperately searching for a long-term option at the point guard position.

After taking a risk on Kris Dunn in the Jimmy Butler trade, it has become apparent that the Bulls are no longer high on his future. They, at the very least, would like to bring in another player to be their starter. Dunn may stick around, but acquiring a talent like Ball would give them a starter that could possibly turn into the kind of player they can build around.

Ball suffered through a very disappointing 2018-19 second season that saw him end his year early due to injury. He ended up playing in just 47 games, averaging 9.9 points per game to go along with 5.4 assists and 5.3 rebounds. In addition to those numbers, Ball shot 40.6 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from beyond the three-point arc.

At just 21 years old, Ball is an intriguing option for a team like the Bulls. There is no telling what they would have to give up to get him, but it would be likely that the No. 7 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft would have to be involved.

All of that being said, let's dive in and take a look at three reasons the Bulls should try to acquire Ball from the Los Angeles Lakers.

3. His Raw Talent Gives Hope for a Superstar Future

While he has not yet lived up to the hype that surrounded him a couple years back in the draft, Ball still has a ton of raw talent to work with. That raw talent certainly would pave the way for him to become a future superstar if he is able to uncover all of his potential.

Chicago took a chance on Dunn's raw talent, but this move would be a bit safer. Ball may not have lived up to the star hype just yet, but he has shown the ability to impact the game in multiple ways. It has been a long time since the Bulls had a true young star in the making at point guard and Ball could be just that for them.

2. Ball's Value Might Be at the Perfect Mark

Secondly, the Bulls could be able to get Ball on a very good deal. While the Lakers still value him, they would likely think long and hard about trading him for a package involving the No. 7 pick. Perhaps the Bulls could get him for the No. 7 pick straight up.

Ball has big-time potential, but his value is at an all-time low due to his rough first two seasons. If the Bulls can get him for cheap, it would be a huge win for the franchise both now and quite possibly long-term.

1. They Need a Point Guard Who Runs the Offense

Finally, the Bulls are in a position where they need a true point guard who can get his teammates open shots. Ball may not have come a long way as a scorer just yet, but he has shown the ability to create plays for his teammates.

Dating back to his days at UCLA, Ball has always been praised for his ability as a passer. He has shown that with the Lakers, averaging 7.2 assists as a rookie and 5.4 last year. Ball will need to become a much more consistent player, but there is no doubt that he can be a floor general for the Bulls.
