With a ton of uncertainty surrounding Zion Williamson's future with the New Orleans Pelicans, it's become more apparent that his tenure in the Big Easy could be winding down sooner than expected. After being sidelined all season with a nagging injury and becoming more distant from the team, it's led many to believe that Zion isn't very happy with the Pelicans, despite his message on Thursday.

It seems that the relationship between him and the organization has taken a turn for the worst of late. At this rate, he'd probably be better off playing anywhere but with New Orleans. Let's now discuss the three reasons why the Oklahoma City Thunder must trade for Williamson during the 2022 NBA offseason.

3. Zion Williamson would add to Oklahoma City's youth movement

With front office mastermind Sam Presti continuing to work his magic by building a youthful and athletic squad in Oklahoma City that boasts a ton of promise, the addition of Williamson would only add to his continued efforts and give the Thunder an exciting young contender of the future.

Adding Williamson to a rotation featuring Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey, Luguentz Dort, and Darius Bazley would give them a ton of depth and firepower that would provide the Thunder with a ton of hope for the years ahead. They'd have plenty of talent at the helm and in Williamson they'd have a complete starting line-up to work with.

2. Williamson would help the Thunder build an exciting young core with limitless superstar potential

As a promising young star that may do better with a change of scenery, Williamson would be a great fit in Oklahoma City and give them an exciting young core to build around. The diverse skillsets of SGA and Giddey paired with Williamson's athleticism, strength, and low post dominance would be a lethal combination that would put the entire league on notice while giving them hope for the future.

Adding Zion to the Thunder could also be the move that gets them back into the Western Conference playoff mix. Seeing as he's still yet to reach his full potential, playing for a growing and developing team like the Thunder would enable him to excel while continuing to polish his game.

1. OKC would still be able to compete even with Zion's injury history

Given that OKC has put together a deep and dynamic roster loaded with several young studs, taking a chance on Zion and dealing with his recurring injuries wouldn't be too big of a risk for them to take on. Especially with talents like Giddey, SGA, and Lu Dort leading the way for this up and coming Thunder squad that will be a legit playoff contender in due time. Plus with Presti's continued patience and never ending quest to gather as many draft picks as humanly possible, the Thunder seem to have all the leverage they need in any trade scenario.

In Zion, they'd be able to form a prolific a superstar tandem in Oklahoma City and give Thunder fans an exciting team to see in action on a nightly basis. If they want to continue building towards postseason relevance, then this is a move they should strongly consider during the 2022 NBA offseason.
