For the first time in his professional football career, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is gearing up to become an unrestricted free agent. While it remains to be seen as to whether or not this actually happens in the end as New England can very well retain Brady before he hits the open market, the speculation surrounding his playing future has already begun — and then some.

Although it is highly likely that Brady eventually returns to New England for at least another season or two, there are definitely more than a few franchises from around that league that would be incredibly interested in the future Hall of Fame signal-caller if he does indeed hit the open market this offseason. While it shouldn't come as much of a surprise, the Indianapolis Colts should most certainly be one of the teams that shows significant interest in Brady come free agency.

In Order to Succeed in the Uber-Competitive AFC South, the Indianapolis Colts Must Make an Upgrade at the Quarterback Position

It is no secret that the Indianapolis Colts have a talented all-around football team. However, it is also no secret that the once-heralded AFC South franchise most definitely needed an upgrade at the quarterback position in order to win now. Former New England Patriots quarterback Jacoby Brissett has proven himself to be a legitimate backup, though his prowess as a starting signal-caller just isn't there, unfortunately. With that being said, Tom Brady would fill a major void for the Colts, one that was initially left behind by retired quarterback Andrew Luck.

Of course, Luck did not play this past season while the Colts previously reached the postseason in what would ultimately become the now-retired quarterback's last go-round in Indianapolis in 2018-19.

Tom Brady Will Have the Chance to Compete Directly Against the New England Patriots if Signed by the Indianapolis Colts

If Tom Brady is going to leave the New England Patriots, one would have to think that he would love to play against his potentially former team, no? Brady is one of the most competitive guys around while suiting up for the Indianapolis Colts would give him a shot at competing directly against the Patriots in the AFC standings and possibly come postseason time.

Even though the Patriots and Colts have had some intense battles over the years, perhaps crossing enemy lines in order to try to take down New England head coach Bill Belichick will intrigue Brady.

It's Tom Brady…

There is absolutely no question that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is one of the two or three best quarterbacks of all time. Brady is probably the best ever, though a few others can have an argument made in their favor. Because this is the case, even despite his age, a team cannot simply just pass on the opportunity to possibly bring Brady on board as there is no doubt that he could help just about every NFL franchise out there come 2020-21 — including the Indianapolis Colts.
