The New England Patriots have released Josh Gordon and the veteran wideout will have a chance to sign elsewhere for the rest of the season. Gordon will have to go through the waiver process, with the possibility of any team landing him.

Of course, Gordon was placed on injured reserve by New England due to a knee injury. Nevertheless, once he recovers from his injury, he can make his return to the field with whoever he gets claimed by.

In the waiver process, it goes by record so that means that the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals have first dibs on him.

With that being said, here are three teams who should claim Josh Gordon off of waivers.

3. Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins are 1-7 to begin the season and they will have third-best waiver priority in the NFL. Therefore, they could have a decent shot to land Gordon in the coming days.

Currently, the Redskins are rolling Terry McLaurin, Paul Richardson, and Trey Quinn at the wide receiver position. McLaurin has been impressive as a rookie but the other receivers on the roster have been inconsistent thus far.

Washington likely wouldn't be the best environment for Gordon to be in but he would undoubtedly make a difference in the nation's capital. Additionally, whenever Dwayne Haskins becomes the starter, having a receiver like Gordon can aid in his development.

2. New York Giants

Another team within the NFC East who should place a claim on Gordon is the New York Giants. Despite having a 2-5 record, the Giants are only two games out of first place in the division.

Ever since Daniel Jones became the starting quarterback, the offense has shown signs of life. At the same time, injuries have prevented the rookie signal-caller from having his entire arsenal of weapons on the field.

While Sterling Shepard continues to recover from a concussion, it would be wise to bring in Gordon to provide depth at the position. An offense with Shepard, Evan Engram, Golden Tate, Saquon Barkley, and Gordon could create fits for opposing defenses.

1. Arizona Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals are an intriguing team that should consider bringing in Gordon via waivers. With Kliff Kingsbury calling the plays and Kyler Murray under center, Arizona's offense has looked vastly better than they did in 2018.

Provided that, the Cardinals still don't have enough weapons for Murray to get the ball to in the offense. At this moment, Larry Fitzgerald leads the team in every receiving stats besides touchdowns. Christian Kirk has also flashed potential in the offense in the past two years.

Yes, Fitzgerald is still a capable pass-catcher and Kirk is a decent No. 2 wideout. There's no doubt that those two guys would benefit from having a player with Gordon's skill set alongside them.
