The Tennessee Titans were able to come away with a much-needed victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 14, 20-0.

Tennessee is now two games ahead of the second-place Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South as they sit at 9-4 on the season. It was a game that the Titans were expected to win, but any game in the NFL that ends in a win, the team is always going to be excited.

It was a great bounce-back win as they suffered two losses in a row against teams that they most certainly could have beaten. There were contributions from everybody on the field and with the absence of Derrick Henry, and others, Tennessee is going to need to continue to have guys step up if they want to have any success towards the back end of the season.

Let's take a look at three takeaways from the Titans-Jaguars Week 14 contest.

Titans Week 14 Takeaways

3. The defense looked the best it has all season

It's not exactly like the Jacksonville Jaguars feature some sort of high-powered offense. They are undoubtedly the worst team in football but at the end of the day, they are still an NFL team, and getting a shutout against anybody in the NFL is simply impressive. This is the best that the defense has looked all year long as there have been weeks where they have struggled to get stops. Outside of the game where the Titans defense only gave up three points to arguably the best offense in all football in the Kansas City Chiefs, this is the best that they've looked all season long.

It won't be as easy getting stops against some of the other teams that they're going to have to eventually play during the last four games of the season and in the playoffs, but this does give the defense some confidence and should help them in the future.

Not only were they able to give up zero points, but they only allowed eight rushing yards. The Jaguars simply didn't have an answer for the Titans' tough defense on Sunday.

2. A much-needed win for the teams' confidence

Not only was this a big win for the standings, but it was big for the team's confidence. They have not been playing well ever since Derrick Henry went down but that was to be expected. They suffered a tough loss to arguably the second-worst team in football in the Houston Texans in Week 11 and then lost to a tough New England Patriots team in Week 12. It was a much-needed win for the Titans as they now can get back on track after they gained some confidence.

They have three tough games coming up including the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh, the San Francisco 49ers, and a tough Miami Dolphins team. They needed to get this win because it was the last easy game remaining on their schedule.

1. Sitting pretty to win the AFC South

The Indianapolis Colts are only two games behind but they have some tough games on their schedule. The Colts are going to take on the New England Patriots, the Arizona Cardinals, and a Las Vegas Raiders team who does have the potential to be a good football team. This is the perfect scenario for the Titans and if they can just win at least two of their next four games, they should be able to walk away with the conference.
