Despite putting together a 50-32 regular-season record last season, the Utah Jazz failed to advance past the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.

The Jazz made changes to their roster over the offseason headlined by acquiring Mike Conley via trade and managing to sign Bojan Bogdanovic in free agency. Some of their other additions include Jeff Green and Emmanuel Mudiay.

The expectations are high for the Jazz for this upcoming season as some even consider them as potentially being title contenders. In order for that to happen, there will likely need to be growth from some of the players that were on last year's roster. There are a few main players with a real chance to accomplish that.

Here are three Utah Jazz players poised for a breakout year:

3. Georges Niang

While last season featured the most opportunity that Georges Niang has received during his NBA career, he was not a full-time member of the Jazz' rotation.

The situation is different for Niang heading into this upcoming season. He is expected to be a part of the team's rotation in some capacity despite the acquisitions of Bojan Bogdanovic and Jeff Green. This season will be the greatest opportunity that he has ever received so far in his professional career to solidify himself as a legitimate rotation player.

Niang is coming off a season with career-best averages in minutes (8.7) along with almost every major statistical category like points (4.0), rebounds (1.5), and assist (0.6). He did so while shooting 47.5 percent from the field, 41 percent from beyond the arc, and 83.3 percent from the free throw line.

Managing to build off that season is a real possibility even his playing time could be limited. His ability to play multiple on the positions out on the perimeter should only help.

2. Royce O'Neale

It is important in the modern NBA to have depth on the wing and Royce O'Neale will be integral in that regard for the Jazz.

While O'Neale's averages in the major categories last season in areas like points (5.2), rebounds (3.5), assists (1.5), steals (0.7), and blocks (0.3) were very similar to his numbers in 2017-18, he managed to significantly improve his scoring efficiency in a few areas. For reference, he experienced growth in his field goal percentage (47.5 percent) and three-point percentage (38.6 percent).

When discussing who has been among the standouts in training camp, Donovan Mitchell highlighted O'Neale as one of the players. Having a strong performance in camp could help him to establish a rhythm heading into the upcoming season and that could go a long way.

A method for O'Neale to grow his impact would be to experience an increase in his basic statistical averages now that his scoring efficiency has increased. The addition of Bojan Bogdanovic will likely make that difficult from an opportunity standpoint unless injuries were to occur. However, he could have a real opportunity to showcase his defensive versatility and that could help him to elevate the trajectory of his career.

When the playoffs come around, a matchup against a team with an elite wing player would be a prime opportunity for O'Neale to show off his defensive impact.

1. Emmanuel Mudiay

The word ‘potential' has been used to describe Emmanuel Mudiay since he was an elite prospect in high school. The 23-year-old is entering a contract year and will be facing an important bench role with the Jazz.

After averaging 14,8 points and 3.9 assists for a bad team last season, Mudiay will need to prove that he can do it within a winning environment. That will need to consist of continuing to improve his offensive efficiency and defensive impact.

Mudiay will likely average fewer points given a decrease in the amount that he will play and have the basketball in his hands.

However, It would go a long way for Mudiay's career if he were to prove to be successful within a complementary role beyond the box score with the Jazz.
