The Philadelphia Eagles will be returning to Lincoln Financial Field in Week 3 to take on the Detroit Lions. The Eagles are 1-0 at home this season but are coming off a road loss against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2.

To begin the season, Philadelphia looked as if they were going to be upset by the Washington Redskins. The Redskins got off to a 17-0 start but Carson Wentz willed them back to secure a 32-27 win over their NFC East foes.

Last Sunday night, the Eagles traveled to Atlanta to have a battle of the birds. Wentz struggled under center in Week 2 and Philadelphia suffered their first loss of the season by the score of 24-20.

As for the Lions, Matt Patricia's group is 1-0-1 on the season after defeating the Los Angeles Chargers at home in Week 2. Of course, they began their season with the dreaded tie after they allowed the Arizona Cardinals to force overtime.

This week, both the Eagles and Lions will be searching to get their second win of the season. With that in mind, here are four reasons why the Eagles will beat the Lions in Week 3.

4. The Eagles Can Withstand Detroit's Pass Rush

After letting Nick Foles depart in free agency, Philadelphia has made a concerted effort to protect Wentz under center. Over the past two seasons, the former No. 2 pick for the Eagles has suffered season-ending injuries.

Without a doubt, the Eagles have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL led by Lane Johnson and Jason Kelce. In the first two games of the season, Philadelphia has allowed just four sacks on their prized possession at quarterback.

On the other side of the ball, Detroit has the likes of Trey Flowers, Romeo Okwara, and Damon Harrison on their defensive front. Nevertheless, Philadelphia can negate their pass rush with their big bodies up front.

3. The Eagles Can Make the Lions One-Dimensional

Along with their offensive line, the Eagles boast a talented defensive line as well. The group of Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, Timmy Jernigan, and Derek Barnett have been phenomenal against the run.

As a matter of fact, the Eagles have the third-best run defense in the NFL this season. Philadelphia has been able to keep Derrius Guice and Devonta Freeman under wraps.

Now, this week, they will be tasked with slowing down Kerryon Johnson. The second-year running back has just 90 yards rushing through two games in the season. His struggles will continue against a front seven of the Eagles that hasn't allowed much on the ground.

Matthew Stafford is going to have to carry the Lions offense in this one.

2. Zach Ertz Will Be a Difference Maker

Last year, we watched Zach Ertz set an NFL record with 116 receptions with Wentz and Foles throwing him the ball. Along with his receptions, the receiving tight end also had 1,163 yards and eight touchdowns.

Despite hauling in 13 receptions for 126 yards to begin this season, he has yet to find the end zone. In light of that, this will be the week that he becomes the focal point of the offense.

Currently, DeSean Jackson has already been ruled out for Sunday's game but Alshon Jeffery is also in jeopardy of being in street clothes. Therefore, Doug Pederson will go to his most reliable weapon on offense to help them win.

1. Wentz Will Bounce Back

The Eagles are coming off a devastating loss against the Falcons in Week 2. In that game, Wentz was beaten up as he took hit after hit as he attempted to make plays for his offense.

Altogether, the fourth-year quarterback played poorly as he completed just 58 percent of his passes for 231 yards, one touchdown, and two ugly interceptions.

After making multiple mental mistakes in Week 2, the talented signal-caller is poised to have a bounce-back performance this Sunday. The Eagles will rally behind their leader on offense and take home the victory.
