The Minnesota Vikings haven't ever won a Super Bowl, but they have put themselves in a position to finally lift the Lombardi Trophy this season. They currently hold the second Wild Card spot, but there have been plenty of teams who have won out of the Wild Card spot, so that isn't actually that big of a hurdle.

Let's break down four reasons the Vikings are going to win it all this season.

4. They have been competitive on the road

The Vikings have one of the best home-field advantages in all of football, but being a Wild Card team they won't be able to use to their advantage. Away from home, the Vikings only have a 3-4 record, but they have been competitive in all but one of their losses on the road. They only lost by five to the Green Bay Packers, three to the Kansas City Chiefs, and if they wouldn't have gotten off to a slow start against the Seattle Seahawks, they could have won that game.

This is a poised team that has proven that a hostile advantage isn't too much for them. Playing at home would be better for the Vikings, but they have proven they can have success on the road.

3. Dalvin Cook/Alexander Mattison

A couple of weeks ago, Dalvin Cook would have been the number one reason the Vikings could win the Super Bowl, but he is a little banged up and that has moved him down.

The good news for the Vikings is even with Cook banged up, they have rookie running back Alexander Mattison who is a good change of pace back and could be the starter if Cook had to miss a game or two. On the season, Mattison has rushed 100 times for 462 yards and a touchdown.

2. Veteran defense

The Vikings' defense hasn't lived up to the expectations this season, but this is a veteran squad and that is going to help during the playoffs.

They also have Danielle Hunter, who still doesn't get as much attention as he should. He has wreaked havoc on his opponents, doing an elite job getting to the quarterback. Hunter already has 12.5 sacks this year, which is fourth-most in the NFL. Hunter also makes everyone around him better from his work ethic and also opening up holes for the rest of the defense with the double teams.

“That guy's a workhorse. I'm out here complaining like, ‘Oh, man, my shoulder kind of hurts, guys, my hands,’ and Danielle looks at me like, ‘Bro, I played 80, 90 snaps. I'm not complaining,'” backup defensive end Ifeadi Odenigbo said via the Associated Press, adding: “He's truly a professional. The team would be a lot better if there was more Danielle Hunters around.”

1. Kirk Cousins

Yes, you read that right, Kirk Cousins is the number one reason right now that the Minnesota Vikings can win the Super Bowl.

Cousins is playing with all kinds of confidence right now, and that shows with the throws he is making to his receivers. The play below is a perfect example of how much confidence Cousins has in himself and his wideouts.

He threads the needle to Diggs down the field on the sideline. Diggs was covered well on the play and Cousins still fit it in.

Cousins is more than a game manager and will lead the Vikings to a Super Bowl victory.
