The Kansas City Chiefs remain in first place in the AFC West division despite uncharacteristically dropping two consecutive games. With the Chiefs losing to a pair of AFC South foes in the Indianapolis Colts and Houston Texans, it is now time for Kansas City to bounce back in a big way against a divisional rival on primetime television.

With the Chiefs slated to take on the surging Denver Broncos on this week's installment of Thursday Night Football, the bright lights should propel Kansas City to victory — especially with only a short week of work for the Broncos to properly prepare. With the Chiefs at 4-2 and the Broncos at 2-4, this Week 7 AFC West clash will be a critical turning point in the season for both teams — but for very different reasons.

Although this list could be extended much further, here are at least four key reasons why the Chiefs will defeat the Broncos on Thursday night.

Three straight losses? No chance!

As mentioned earlier, the Chiefs have lost back-to-back games after beginning the 2019 regular season at a perfect 4-0. The Chiefs still sit in first place in the AFC West division at 4-2 even after a rocky few weeks leading up to the team's Thursday evening showdown against the Broncos. The bottom line is this — there is just simply no way that the Chiefs lose three consecutive games to fall to 4-3.

Not only won't the Chiefs lose three straight games, but Kansas City will dominate the Broncos in a big way on primetime to get everyone and their mother talking about the AFC West franchise once again. With Kansas City coming up short against the aforementioned Colts on national TV two weeks prior, the spotlight is exactly where the Chiefs want to be in order to properly return to the win column in style.

Broncos Must Come Back Down to Earth

Unlike the Kansas City Chiefs, the Denver Broncos are coming off of back-to-back wins and are red hot as it stands today. However, with those wins coming over the Los Angeles Chargers and Tennessee Titans, it appears as though everyone has already forgotten that the Broncos started the 2019 season at a winless 0-4.

Because the Broncos are fresh off of a 16-0 shutout victory over the Titans, it is only a matter of time before Denver comes crashing back down to Earth. With that being said, there is no better opponent to bring the Broncos back to reality than the Chiefs, who need a big win in a big way.

Broncos' Offense is Just What the Chiefs Defense Needs

There is absolutely no doubt that the Chiefs are heavily reliant on the team's offense. With last year's NFL MVP in quarterback Patrick Mahomes still under center in Kansas City, the Chiefs will continue to be potent on offense even after a few weeks of underwhelming football. However, in order to win in the NFL, a team must come forth with a well-rounded attack — offense, defense and special teams included.

Although the Chiefs will continue to attack on offense, it is the team's defense that needs to step it up against the Broncos. Luckily for the Chiefs and the team's defense, the low-energy Broncos offensive unit is just what Kansas City needs to get back on track in a hurry.

Patrick Mahomes Will Return to His MVP Form

The Chiefs still have last year's MVP under center and it is only a matter of time before Mahomes returns to his prolific ways. After beginning the season on a hot start, Mahomes has cooled down as of late as the Chiefs have obviously faltered because of his lack of production.

However, it is difficult to keep a player of his caliber down for long as two weeks is probably long enough for Mahomes. Although the Broncos do trot out an impressive defensive unit — one that is coming off of a shutout of the Titans — Mahomes will simply be too much for this group to handle in Week 7.

Mahomes will surely eclipse the 300-yard mark along with multiple touchdowns against the Broncos. Denver may have the ability to slow down Mahomes sporadically, but stopping him altogether just seems like a stretch at this point.

Simply put, a matchup against a divisional rival on primetime is just what the Chiefs and Mahomes need to get back on the right track.
