With the 54th installment of the Super Bowl about to come and go, NFL fans will soon begin looking ahead to late April. With the 2020 NFL Draft slated to begin on Thursday, April 23rd, teams from around the league will be looking to improve by adding a slew of rookie talent — starting with the always exciting first round, which should be packed with nearly unlimited talent this time around.

However, with some teams more than likely to trade up in the first round, there will also be teams that will be looking to trade down come April. Although these things are nearly impossible to predict this far out, it is never too early to make some bold predictions!

As it stands today, the Carolina Panthers are slated to pick at No. 7 in the first round with the New York Jets coming in at No. 11, the Miami Dolphins at No. 18 and the Tennessee Titans at No. 29. With that being said, none of these four three teams should remain in their respective positions. Instead, the Panthers, Jets, Dolphins, and Titans should all trade down en route to moving back in the first round on April 23rd.

Carolina Panthers

If the Carolina Panthers will be moving forward with veteran quarterback and former NFL MVP Cam Newton, the struggling NFC South franchise should absolutely trade down in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. However, if the team is seeking a rookie quarterback early on come April, then the Panthers may not be as poised to drop back.

The Panthers need help in more areas than one at the moment while acquiring additional draft picks — especially multiple picks in the first round — could be exactly what Carolina needs to turn things around in a hurry. With a slew of teams looking to select quarterbacks in the early portion of the first round, the Panthers' pick at No. 7 could be highly coveted and could haul in quite the return.

New York Jets

The New York Jets will almost certainly attempt to select a wide receiver with the team's first pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. However, this year's talent pool at the wide receiver position is absolutely loaded as the Jets can ultimately draft a wideout well outside the top 11. Because the Jets can still potentially select a high-level pass-catcher even in the later portion of the first round, it would be the calculated and intelligent thing to do to trade down in the 2020 NFL Draft.

The likes of Jerry Jeudy, Tee Higgins, Henry Ruggs III, CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Reagor all first-round caliber players, the Jets can most definitely secure one of these players outside of the first 11 spots.

Miami Dolphins

As it stands today, the Miami Dolphins own not one, not two but three first-round picks for the 2020 NFL Draft. The Dolphins currently own spots No. 5, No. 18 and No. 26 with the team possessing the ability to select a slew of talented players or trade some of these picks in order to acquire even more — both in 2020 and beyond.

With the Dolphins almost guaranteed to select the team's next quarterback of the future with that No. 5 overall pick, the next valuable pick on the slate becomes No. 18, which could be used as a tool to trade back. Because the Dolphins can pick at both the beginning and end of the first round, that No. 18 pick can surely help Miami add additional picks or players.

The Dolphins will definitely be a team to watch early on come April, similarly to the Oakland Raiders from a year ago as the AFC West franchise used all three of its first-round picks in 2019.

Tennessee Titans

Thanks to the team's deep playoff run from the 2019-20 campaign, the Tennessee Titans currently own the No. 29 overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. However, the Titans do not have too many holes that need to be filled this time around while Tennessee will more than likely select a pass rusher as a result of the team's top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft — wherever that pick maybe.

Because the Titans are picking so late in the first round, it would benefit Tennessee to trade out of the first round altogether. Even though the pick is near the end of the first round, No. 29 will still hold some weight will teams that will be attempting to make their way back into the first round. Not only that, but Titans general manager Jon Robinson has been known to wheel and deal, which makes things that much more interesting.
