The Atlanta Falcons are excited to get a healthy Devonta Freeman back because he has proven to be one of the backs in the league when he is on the field. Most know Freeman for his long hair and his flashy moves on the field, but he is more than just a football player.

Let's look at four things you need to know about the former Florida State star.

4. 24 is a special number to Freeman

When Freeman was drafted by the Falcons, he wore number 33 because 24 was taken, but he switched to 24 the first chance he could. Most players have their number mean something to them and for Freeman, it's very personal. When Freeman was 14, his aunt who was 24 at the time passed away from a heart attack.

“She meant so much to me,” Freeman said via ESPN. “She was like the world to me. She was one of the younger aunties that I had, so we used to relate the most. We were real close. And she did my dreads before she passed away. She's just my favorite.”

Freeman also has her name tattooed on his left arm.

3. Grew up in the projects

Freeman is the oldest of seven children and grew up in the Pork ‘n' Beans projects of Miami's Liberty City. At the age of 12, he was looked upon as the man of the house and tried to be a good role model for his siblings. While most in his project was dealing drugs or joining gangs, Freeman was trying to earn his money by cleaning cars or raking leaves.

Coming into the NFL, Freeman said he was excited to help the rest of the family and make them proud.

“I love football, that's natural,” Freeman said via tallahassee.com. “But being able to help my family and being able to see them smile, that's a whole other thing. That's a different type of drive that I get when I'm able to put a smile on their face. It just makes me want to go out there and work even harder to keep them smiling.”

2. May have made Teddy Bridgewater cry during little league

Although Freeman hasn't ever actually admitted to it, it seems that he might have made Teddy Bridgewater cry during a Little League game. As the story goes, Freeman was playing catcher and was talking a lot of trash to players on the other team.

Freeman then started to talk trash to the opposing pitcher who just happened to be Bridgewater. Freeman wouldn't admit to making him cry but did say that he hit a home run off him, which caused him to talk even more trash.

1. Won a championship in high school in college

Freeman played for Miami Central High School and helped lead the team to the 2010 State Championship rushing for 308 yards in the championship game.

During the 2013 season at Florida State Freeman rushed for over 1,000 yards and was a big reason they knocked off Auburn in the FCS National Championship game.

The hope is that he can help lead the Falcons to a championship and repeat what he did during high school and college.
