Jimmy Garoppolo and the San Francisco 49ers are preparing themselves to face the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game and Garoppolo is reflecting on his time with Tom Brady. Ahead of Sunday's decisive showdown, Garoppolo is thinking back to Brady's consistency in the postseason to aid him.

“I haven’t personally talked to him, but just, you know, things that I took away from watching him go through it and everything, just the consistency that he had throughout the entire run,” said Garoppolo. “Whatever it was, the first playoff game, the Super Bowl, he was very consistent between all of it and I think that just goes into your preparation throughout the week. If you are prepared going into the game then you’re going to play like that.”

Of course, before Garoppolo became the starter in San Francisco, he spent three years holding a clipboard behind Brady. While with the New England Patriots, Garoppolo learned from arguably the greatest quarterback of all time.

But after his three seasons in New England, the former second-round pick was sent to the 49ers. Since then, he's helped elevate San Francisco into being a legitimate contender in the NFC.

For the first time in his career, Garoppolo was able to start in all 16 games in 2019. Coming off of a torn ACL in 2018, Garoppolo threw for 3,978 yards, 27 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions this season.

In last week's victory over the Minnesota Vikings, Garoppolo wasn't asked to do much. The six-year veteran completed just 11 of his 19 attempts for 131 yards, one touchdown, and an interception.

At the least, Garoppolo was able to secure a win in his first career start in the playoffs. Despite his unproductive playoff debut, Garoppolo is focused on what's ahead—the Packers.
