The San Francisco 49ers got some good and some not-so-good news on George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Elijah Mitchell.

Earlier Friday, the 49ers activated Pro Bowl tight end George Kittle off IR. Kittle has been out since Week 4 when he injured his calf against the Seahawks. That's the good news.

The flip side of that coin is that star wide receiver Deebo Samuel and running back Elijah Mitchell are both questionable to play, according to ProFootballTalk.

Deebo Samuel is experiencing a massive, breakout season for San Francisco. Entering Week 9, Samuel is 2nd in the NFL in receiving yards with 819. He has gone over 150 yards three times already this season and trails only Cooper Kupp with 924 yards.

Samuel is eager to play, but 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said earlier this week that his calf injury is worse this week and he does not want to suit him up, only to see him play a couple of snaps. That is the type of talk you hear from a coach who is very hesitant with a player's status.

Meanwhile, running back Elijah Mitchell is also questionable to play this week. Mitchell has been practicing all week in a non-contact jersey. That does not bode well for his chances. In his last two games, Mitchell has rushed for over 100 yards and a touchdown in each.

If he is forced to sit out, the 49ers hope to get RB Jeff Wilson back from IR.

San Francisco hosts the NFC-West leading Arizona Cardinals Sunday. If Samuel and Mitchell are inactive or hampered, look for 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to lean heavily on Kittle in the passing game.
