Los Angeles Rams star defensive tackle Aaron Donald decided to return to the gridiron after an offseason filled with retirement speculation. Donald signed a record deal with Los Angeles, making him the highest-paid, non-quarterback in the league with his $95 million salary. Not everyone was excited to see Donald back, though. San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Trent Williams made a hilarious comment to reporters after Donald signed his contract, per USA Today.

“I wish he would have retired, but he deserved a new contract” Williams told reporters after Tuesday’s practice.

Williams said that he “wished he would have retired, but he deserved a new contract.” The 49ers star offensive tackle is clearly tired of trying to block Donald!

In his career, the Rams stud defensive tackle has recorded 12.5 sacks in his career against the 49ers, his third-highest total against any team. No one was more upset than the 49ers to see Donald announce his return.

In all seriousness, Williams, who has made nine Pro Bowls himself, recognizes just how good of a talent Donald is for the Rams. Having attempted to block the stud defender, the 49ers Pro Bowler knows Donald's worth.

Even if he didn't want to see him on the other side of the field in 2022.
