In wake of the injuries to the backfield with the San Franciso 49ers, veteran running back Alfred Morris has had another chance to continue his NFL career after inking a deal with the franchise.

According to Nick Wagoner of ESPN, Morris believes this is chance for him to show that he has plenty left in the tank to play at a high level in his seventh season in the league.

“I’m not done yet,” Morris said. “I still have too much juice to give. I was just waiting for the right opportunity because I could have went early on in OTAs or something like that but I was like ‘It’s not right.’ I’m just waiting for an opportunity, and I think this is it. I’m here, so I’m excited and ready to go.”

Morris played the last two campaigns with the Dallas Cowboys in a secondary role in the running game behind emerging star running back Ezekiel Elliott. He was able to demonstrate last season with Elliott out with a six-game suspension that he can be an effective option out of the backfield as he has posted four games with at least 60 rushing yards and one 100-yard outing.

He may not have the chance to secure the starting job outright, but he is heading into a situation where he could experience much success as he's linking up with Kyle Shanahan once again as the two worked with each other with the Washington Redskins as the head coach was previously the offensive coordinator with the franchise. This should allow him to smoothly transition into being a factor out of the backfield from the get-go with the 49ers.

Morris may have much confidence in his ability especially given that he previously had success in their offensive scheme that saw him break into the league with 1,613 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns before compiling 1,275 rushing yards and seven touchdowns the following season. In fact, he notched all three of his career 1,000-yard campaigns came with Washington.
