San Francisco 49ers kicker Chase McLaughlin isn't exactly sure what went wrong with the missed kick that cost the team an overtime victory against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football.

McLaughlin said that he knows he rushed the kick a little bit. However, he would have to go back and watch the film to see what else went wrong.

“I don’t know exactly what happened,” McLaughlin said, via NBCSportsBayArea.com. “I’ll have to look at it on film, but I rushed it a little bit and hit it a little high. Unfortunately, I missed it.”

McLaughlin spent a little time earlier this season with the Los Angeles Chargers and was brought in because of Robbie Gould's groin injury. Prior to missing the field goal in overtime, McLaughlin had hit a 47-yard field goal as time expired to force overtime. The kick in overtime never had a chance off his foot and went significantly wide left.

After the game, 49ers players like fullback Kyle Juszczyk made it clear that it wasn't McLaughlin's fault that they lost the game.

“You absolutely feel for Chase,” fullback Kyle Juszczyk said. “He really did have a good game. That’s a lot to ask for a new kicker to come in and make all those kicks. I feel for him, but we all let him know we have his back.”

The hope is that Gould will be back for the team's upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals. If he can't play, look for McLaughlin to get another week with the team.
