It's no secret that the San Francisco 49ers are in the market for help at receiver this offseason.

With the Pittsburgh Steelers' Antonio Brown officially becoming available and rumors swirling about Odell Beckham's uncertain future with the New York Giants, it seems only a matter of time until 49ers general manager John Lynch engages in trade discussions concerning both superstar wideouts with their incumbent clubs.

NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms, though, believes one player would be a better fit for San Francisco than the other:

“Antonio Brown works very hard. He’s a hell of a football player,” Simms said on the 49ers Insider podcast, per Pro Football Talk. “I get all of that. And I know his work ethic is through the roof. But the one thing I’ve always been told from people in Pittsburgh – players, coaches, front office people – is it’s all about Antonio Brown.”

Brown frequently clashed with Pittsburgh players and coaches last season, including superstar quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and longtime coach Mike Tomlin.

Despite him putting up another stellar line of 104 catches, 1,297 receiving yards, and a league-leading 15 touchdowns, the Steelers missed the playoffs in 2018 for the first time in five years.

It's not just attitude concerns that gives Simms pause about San Francisco acquiring Brown, though.

Not only is Beckham already the superior player, he says, but the 30 year old Brown supposedly took a step back last year, too:

“He’s still great, but he’s not the guy we saw three or four years ago,” Simms said of Brown. “This is the age where receivers start to lose explosiveness and speed a little bit.”

Beckham, 26, had 77 catches, 1,052 receiving yards, and six touchdowns in 12 games last season.
