It has been quite some time since former San Francisco 49ers quarterback and current unrestricted free agent Colin Kaepernick suited up.
In his professional playing career as a member of the 49ers, Colin Kaepernick helped San Francisco win a NFC championship and an appearance in Super Bowl XLVII against the eventual champion Baltimore Ravens back in 2013.
Even though Colin Kaepernick has not played a down of NFL football since the 2016-17 campaign, at least one of his former 49ers teammates — wide receiver Jeremy Kerley — remembers how the veteran quarterback “electrified” the team's offense when on the field.
“We were kind of missing [something] throughout the season, but when he came on, it’s like he kind of electrified the offense and got us going and stuff,” Kerley recently told Matt Burrows of The Athletic. “It was unfortunate we couldn’t get more than one win out of it. But like I said, personally, my funnest time playing football was 2016.”
Now 32 years old, Colin Kaepernick is still attempting to latch on with a NFL team after he was seemingly forced out of the league due to his protests against police brutality and racism during the national anthem. Even though a few teams from around the league have recently explored the idea of potentially bringing Kaepernick on board upon speaking with the media, no franchise has actually made such a move at this time.
Over the course of his six years in San Francisco, Colin Kaepernick reached a pair of NFC Championship Games, one Super Bowl and threw for more than 12,000 yards.
