Nick Bosa made the calculated, controversial decision to refrain from posting about conservative politics on social media once it became clear he would soon be a member of the San Francisco 49ers, playing football in one of America's most forward-thinking cities. While the No. 2 overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft likely made the decision for the most part to avoid scrutiny from fans, it goes without saying that his right-wing views are probably a minority in the 49ers locker room, too.

Just over two months after the draft, Bosa has apparently endeared himself to his new teammates despite his publicly-known political views.

Celebrity gossip site TMZ recently caught up with San Francisco safety Antone Exum, an outspoken supporter of former 49ers quarterback and civil rights activist Colin Kaepernick. When asked his thoughts on Bosa, Exum made it clear the rookie was someone who had earned his respect.

“Man, I love Nick Bosa,” Exum told TMZ Sports. “He's a good guy… There will be no animosity as long as he's rushing that quarterback.”

In 2016, at the height of hysteria about Kaepernick taking a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice in the United States, Bosa called him a “clown.” The rookie apologized for that remark and several others during his introductory press conference with San Francisco in April, saying he'd made “some insensitive decisions” in his life.

Bosa, the younger brother of Los Angeles Chargers star Joey Bosa, played just three games last season after having surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle suffered in Ohio State’s 40-28 win over TCU on September 15th. He had five and-a-half sacks and seven tackles for loss in that limited action, though, doing enough in his final collegiate season to remain a top-tier prospect.
