All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is now officially a member of the Cleveland Browns. The former New York Giants wideout was recently traded from East Rutherford to Cleveland in what came as a massively surprising deal between the two sides.

However, leading up to such a deal, the San Francisco 49ers were rumored to also have an interest in possibly acquiring Beckham Jr.

Confirming such a rumor, Giants general manager Dave Gettleman has since announced that the Giants did indeed have talks with San Francisco in regards to the Browns newcomer.

“As a point of information, the only call that I initiated regarding moving Odell was to Buffalo,” Gettleman said, via the team's official website. “As you folks may or may not know, I have a personal relationship with [Buffalo Bills General Manager] Brandon [Beane], being the Buffalo GM, from our time spent together in Carolina. I placed the call after I had learned they had conversations on Antonio Brown. I good naturedly chided Brandon about not calling us, and that's where it ended. So, that's Buffalo. San Francisco — we had numerous conversations over time; myself and [49ers General Manager] John Lynch, the GM, and frankly we couldn't come to an agreement, so that died on the vine.”
