San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Dee Ford is expected to be a game-time decision for his team's Week 3 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers due to knee and quad issues, according to Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Ford missed the second half of his the 49ers' win over the Cincinnati Bengals last weekend as a result of discomfort in both areas.

“Hopefully, he’ll be feeling good on Sunday,” said 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan. “He said he felt good. He looked good walking through. But I know that’ll go all the way up to Sunday.”

Ford did not participate in practice on Wednesday or Thursday. He was scheduled to take part in a limited session on Friday, but San Francisco dialed its practice back to just a walk-through because of the high-intensity sessions earlier in the week.

“I know he’s feeling better now than he has the last few days, but he’s still not fully there, yet,” Shanahan said of Ford. “We’ll see how these last 48 hours go. Hopefully, they go well. If it does, I know he feels confident to go out there, especially with time off the following week.”

Ford has logged two tackles, a sack and a forced fumble thus far this season.

The Niners acquired the pass rusher in a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs back in March, sending a second-round pick to the Chiefs in exchange for his services.

Ford is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he racked up 55 tackles, 13 sacks and seven forced fumbles, leading to his first Pro Bowl appearance.

The 49ers are looking to get off to a 3-0 start.
