The San Francisco 49ers are facing off  with the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 54. It's been a close contest, as it was 10-10 at the half. Despite the low score, there have been some star performances offensively. For the 49ers, it has been rookie Deebo Samuel. That may sound weird, as he has just five receptions for 39 yards at the time of this article.

Those aren't numbers that would jump out at you. Samuel has done more than catch a few passes though. The rookie has set a Super Bowl record for rushing yards by a wide receiver, with 53.

It's important to remember, Super Bowl 54 is far from over. There's a pretty good chance that Samuel can pick up quite a few more yards before the game ends.

Samuel has been fantastic all year. A second-round pick in 2019, he was expected to be good, but it was hard to imagine he would be this productive this quickly.

Samuel finished the regular season with 57 receptions for 802 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 14 carries for 159 yards and three more touchdowns. So clearly, being involved in the run game is nothing new to the wide receiver.

If Samuel can keep up the fantastic production, he could play his way to a Super Bowl MVP award. Currently, he has 94 total yards. That's a lot more than any other player on the team, other than quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.

Samuel has helped open up the entire offense with his versatility. Could his standout performance help San Francisco get their sixth Super Bowl victory? If it does, could he be taking home the MVP award at the end of the night? He's already broken one record, that's got to help his odds.
