The spotlight remains fixed on San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo heading into the 2020 NFL season coming off the team's Super Bowl loss. Fortunately, defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is impressed with what he has seen under center so far in training camp.

According to Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports, Saleh feels Garoppolo has made some notable strides in his decision-making:

“When I say decisive, I mean just decisive when that ball is in his hands and out on his back foot,” Saleh said. “When he hits his back foot in his drop it's a thing of beauty and you're seeing more and more of it throughout camp.”

Saleh added that he expects Garoppolo to continue improving as the season goes on.

“I could only imagine it's only going to get better and better once we get into game planning and settling things in.”

The unprecedented offseason has offered up its own set of challenges for teams given the restrictions placed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. As a result, some growing pains were to be expected once training camp got into full swing.

With the start of the 2020 campaign just weeks away, Saleh is doing what he can to give Garoppolo a good look since the preseason was cancelled. It is safe to say that going up against a defense of this caliber helps pay huge dividends for him and the rest of the offense, especially given the amount of injuries the 49ers have suffered with their receiving corps this offseason.
