San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was able to establish himself as one of the best players in the league at his position. As a result, he will now look to work with perhaps the greatest tight end of all time in Tony Gonzalez.

Kittle was one of the few bright spots for the lowly 49ers this season. Tight ends coach Jon Embree said during an appearance on The 49ers Insider Podcast that the two will meet with Gonzalez this offseason.

Kittle and Embree will meet up with Tony Gonzalez, one of the all-time great tight ends, in February or March,

This is certainly an intriguing move by Kittle. He is coming off a historic 2018 campaign, however, it is clear that he is not ready to settle on his merits just yet.

Kittle emerged as a premier weapon offense this year. He broke the record for most yards by a tight end after registering 1,377 yards on 88 receptions to go with five touchdowns. Perhaps even more impressive is that he did it despite the lack of stability under center throughout the season.

It will be difficult for Kittle to follow up such a spectacular performance. This could be why he is seeking help from former greats like Gonzalez. The future Hall of Famer is widely considered the greatest tight end in NFL history and for good reason. He is the current NFL record-holder for games (270), receptions (1,325), and yards (15,127) by a tight end. Gonzalez seems to have no problem sharing some advice to a player that may potentially give a run at some of his other records.
