It was not a good day at practice for the San Francisco 49ers from a health standpoint. It appears cornerback Jason Verrett can now be added to the list of key players that suffered injuries on Wednesday.

Both wide receiver Marquis Goodwin and defensive end Nick Bosa went down with injuries during practice.

According to Cam Inman of the Bay Area News Group, defensive coordinator Robert Saleh confirmed that Verrett left practice an unknown injury:

#49ers CB Jason Verrett left early with an unspecified injury, Saleh said

This is certainly an unfortunate series of events in San Francisco, particularly for Verrett. One severe injury after another had derailed his once-promising career and it seems he is once again in familiar territory. Although the severity of the injury has yet to be revealed, his track record does not inspire much confidence moving forward.

Verrett had high hopes about a potential resurgence in the 2019 NFL season after playing in just five games since 2016. The 49ers provided him with an opportunity to prove himself after signing him to a one-year deal this offseason. They were optimistic that he would be able to follow in the footsteps of cornerback Richard Sherman, who bounced back from an Achilles injury to become a starter on defense.

The potential loss of Verrett would undoubtedly deal a striking blow to the 49ers secondary considering his arrival had generated some hype.

Unfortunately, it appears they will have to rely on their depth for the time being until further details on his injury are revealed.
