The San Francisco 49ers have a talented cornerback in Jason Verrett. However, they are also taking their time with him as he is yet to make his debut for the team.

Verrett was available to play during the team's lopsided victory against the Cincinnati Bengals, but he didn't see the field as he was kept on the bench. One reason for this decision was the fact that he just recovered from an ankle injury that kept him out in Week 1.

He is still patiently waiting for his 49ers debut. Verrett didn't shy away from admitting his frustrations at his current situation. However, he said that he will patiently wait for his opportunity.

Per Matt Maiocco in NBC Sports Bay Area:

“Yeah, it’s very difficult when it’s like that,” Verrett, 28, said. “But at the same time, I’m a pro. I take it for what it is, and control what I can control and just try to move forward with it.”

The coaching staff understands his frustrations. However, they don't want to rush something that may cause them the win.

“I know he really wanted to get out there last week, but we tried to play it smart with him,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said. “He has a better chance to get out there this week. That’s something we will discuss. It doesn’t all have to do with him. It’ll have to do with the rest of the roster, and how we plan on attacking these guys.”

The one-time Pro-Bowler has not played a full season of football ever since he was drafted in 2014. During his time with the Chargers, he made 80 tackles and five interceptions in only 25 games. He is behind Ahkello Witherspoon who has posted similar numbers as him.
