A lot of San Francisco fans are excited over the team's 2-0 start. Plenty of the fans are already talking about the playoffs and serious run. And for legendary 49ers receiver Jerry Rice, he believes that the team can win the Super Bowl this year.

“I don’t want to jump the gun, but I’m starting to feel it a little bit. These guys are looking really, really like contenders,” Rice said per Gary Peterson of the Mercury News.

It's a giant step after only two weeks of play this season. But to Rice's credit, the team is looking good. They're coming off of two dominant road wins against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cincinnati Bengals, respectively. And Rice went into extensive detail on what's been the reason for all of this success.

“The (38-yard touchdown reception) with Marquise Goodwin (against Cincinnati). It was like we should give (Shanahan) an Oscar. (Goodwin) was coming down the line like he was just going to block and he slid out. It was almost like pitch and catch, like they were just in practice. He was so wide open, all Jimmy G. had to do is deliver the football and he did that.”

He says that the only thing that the team needs to get under control are the turnovers. Other than that, Rice loves everything else that the 49ers are doing.

“Jimmy G had an interception (against Cincinnati), but he really managed the game well, about 297 yards, three touchdowns. He got his playmakers into the ball game. The defense stood up. (Kwon) Alexander had an interception. That’s four interceptions for the 49ers which is unbelievable after last year.”

Rice is among the many San Francisco fans aboard the hype train for the 49ers. And if they can beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, that hype train could get even more crowded.
