The San Francisco 49ers were dealt a tough loss against a depleted Arizona Cardinals team. But despite the unsavory result, it appears as though Jimmy Garoppolo isn't in any danger of losing his starting spot.

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan was asked about Garoppolo's performance after the game.

Via David Bonilla:

“I thought Jimmy was all right,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said. “I thought that pick at the end, those last couple of plays were some bad plays right there, on that last drive when the game was out of hand. But Jimmy was all right.”

The 49ers quarterback went 28-for-40 with 326 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. While he passed for more yards and TDs than his counterpart Colt McCoy, their team was decimated in the run game. San Francisco had just 39 rushing yards to the Cardinals' 163.

Kyle Shanahan was vocal, however, that he had no intention of inserting Trey Lance during the contest. Nor is he thinking of making a move just yet.

“Probably not,” Shanahan said, “but definitely not thinking about those things right now. I’m thinking about this game and the rest of our team.”

There have been whispers that Jimmy Garoppolo's seat is getting warmer as the 49ers struggle to gain ground in the standings. But it sounds like nothing is imminent just yet.
