The San Francisco 49ers have been without a number of their offensive weapons throughout the season. Amongst them all, Jimmy Garoppolo has been one of the few to miss the most time, and his ankle injury doesn't appear to be turning the corner any time soon.

Head coach Kyle Shahan remains uncertain on whether or not Garoppolo will be cleared to play again this season, per Matt Barrows of The Athletic.

Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a high ankle sprain during Week 2 against the New York Jets, which kept him out of action for the next four games. While he was able to return for a few games in times since, his ailing ankle has kept him from returning to full form. His last game was against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8 in which he completed 68.75 percent of his passes for only 84 yards and one interception for the 49ers.

In light of his absence, Nick Mullens has stepped up to lead San Francisco, but it hasn't led to much success. They're currently 5-8 and in last place in the NFC West. While Mullens isn't solely to blame for the 49ers' struggles, he hasn't catered to their victories.

Mullens finished last week against the Washington Football Team completing 25-of-45 passes for 260 yards and one touchdown. He also threw an interception during that time.

The 49ers only have three games remaining to make the playoffs, though those chances took a massive blow after their lost to Washington.

As it stands, they're now behind the Arizona Cardinals for the NFC wild-card, with the Cardinals also being a squad the 49ers will play once in their last three games.
