The San Francisco 49ers beefed up their receiving corps by taking Brandon Aiyuk with the 25th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. It appears he has already garnered high expectations from one of his new teammates, Kendrick Bourne.

The 49ers are hoping to finish the job in the 2020 NFL season after falling short in the Super Bowl. Bourne, a fellow receiver, is confident that Aiyuk is going to play a major role in making it come to fruition, saying so on Twitter:

Although most players would be hesitant to embrace further competition at their position, it is clear that Bourne has already welcomed the prospect of playing alongside Aiyuk and what he brings to the table. After all, the 49ers are going to need all the help they can get if they hope to follow through on their championship aspirations.

Of course, the restrictions placed in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have been hardly ideal for rookies trying to get accustomed to life in the NFL. Aiyuk is still in the midst of learning the 49ers playbook through virtual meetings while staying in shape during quarantine. Fortunately, it is evident that his new teammates are helping him with the transition.

Unlike Aiyuk, Bourne has had to make his bones as a former undrafted free agent. He has largely played a complementary role in the 49ers offense after finishing the 2019 campaign with 30 receptions for 358 yards and five touchdowns. The onus will now fall on him, Aiyuk and the rest of this group to pick up the slack following the departure of Emmanuel Sanders in free agency.
