It took six years, but Kyle Shanahan got his revenge on the Washington Redskins. Six years after Dan Snyder and Co. fired Kyle (then offensive coordinator), and his father, Mike (then head coach), the younger Shanahan went to D.C. with his San Francisco 49ers and won a 9-0 offensive struggle in the rain.

After the game, tight end George Kittle noted that the 49ers especially wanted the win to honor the Shanahans. He also mentioned that Kyle gave the game ball to Mike.

Everyone's a little more sensitive to things that involve your family,” said Shanahan after the win, per USA Today, “so that's why I'm always a little more sensitive to this because of what I went through with my dad here. And that's why it was nice to get the win.”

The younger Shanahan didn't lay into his former boss heading into Week 7's showdown, but he didn't wholly mince words either. Earlier in the week, he said the best thing about working in Washington was with his father. The worst part? “Everything else.”

However, Sunday's win had nothing to do with family, says Shanahan. It was about getting business done on the road, which they did.

“(My family's history here) definitely had nothing to do with the game, has nothing to do with the score,” Shanahan said. “But you always want to take care of things the right way when you're bothered by how some things have been for a family member.”

In the end, Shanahan is sitting pretty with his 6-0 49ers. Snyder is looking at a 1-6 record, no head coach and a fanbase clamoring for his removal.
