San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan didn't have a conclusive answer when asked regarding the return of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and tight end George Kittle. Both of them didn't make an appearance in the team's most recent tilt against the Buffalo Bills in Week 13 proceedings.

“Those guys are working their tails off right now,” Shanahan said via the Sacramento Bee. “But they’re still part of the rehab, just trying to get back and be a part of this, but it’s not anytime soon right now.”

Both players have yet to make it back to the gridiron since their Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks back on Nov. 1. Garoppolo sustained a high ankle sprain to his right leg while Kittle is nursing a broken bone in his foot.

Without two of their best players on the field, the 49ers were visibly handicapped especially on the offensive end of the field. They struggled to keep up with the high-scoring Bills offense led by opposing quarterback Josh Allen who threw four touchdown passes in the encounter.
QB2 Nick Mullens continues to handle the playmaking duties in lieu of Garoppolo's absence and finished with 316 passing yards on a 26/39 clip and three passing touchdowns. Rookie wideout Brandon Aiyuk chalked up 95 receiving yards on five receptions and a touchdown scored to lead the team's aerial attack sans Kittle en route to a 34-24 defeat.
Since their Week 8 loss against the Seahawks, the 49ers have failed to find any momentum as they went on to lose three of their next four games. The team is hopeful that both Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle will be able to make it back and close out their remaining games on a strong note.
