The San Francisco 49ers getting its first win on Sunday is nice, but it doesn't even light a candle to the story behind Marquise Goodwin's day.

Get your tissues ready. I will wait.

Goodwin posted on social media after the game that he and his wife Morgan lost their son due to complications with his wife’s pregnancy.

“(We) had to prematurely deliver him early this morning around 4 a.m.,” Goodwin wrote in a post on Instagram. “Although we are hurt, I am grateful for the experience and grateful that God blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as Morgan.

“The pain (physically, mentally, & emotionally) that she has endured is unbelievable. Please Pray for the Goodwin family.”

Despite such awful and sad news, Marquise Goodwin played and caught an 83-yard touchdown, seriously helpined the 49ers beat the New York GiantsGiants 31-21.

Goodwin also had a key block on a long touchdown by Garrett Celek. He left the locker room quickly after the game to join his family.

Listen, this isn't hyperbole, Goodwin had to be playing with the heaviest of hearts on Sunday. Maybe he used the game as an escape. Hopefully it worked. The entire thing is really just horrific and sad.

This is obviously more a human story than it has anything to do with football. Nevertheless, Goodwin has proven to be one of the fastest receivers in all of the National Football League.

Our thoughts are with the talented receiver and his family, as they deal with real heartbreak.
