San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa has enjoyed quite the stellar start to his career following a spectacular outing in the 2019 NFL season. It seems things have already come full circle for him with Super Bowl LIV being held in Miami.

Bosa went to high school at St. Thomas Aquinas in nearby Fort Lauderdale. According to Scott Bair of NBCSportsBayArea.com, he admits that blocking out the distractions of coming back home has been a challenge:

“I have been tunnel-visioned all year,” Bosa said. “This whole week it’s noticeably harder because you have your buddies in offseason mode, doing whatever around town. You see the stuff on social media and get the FOMO [fear of missing out], but you know that what you’re doing is of greater importance. You just have to remind yourself of that.”

Bosa's comments are certainly understandable considering not many players get the opportunity to achieve the ultimate goal in their hometown. The fact that his performance could have a major impact on the outcome only raises the stakes for him from a personal standpoint.

Bosa has come a long way in a short amount of time since his days back home. He established himself as the frontrunner for Defensive Rookie of the Year by finishing the 2019 campaign with 47 tackles, 9.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and an interception. He even managed to kick things ip a n itch in the playoffs with 3.0 sacks and a pass deflection heading into the matchup with Kansas City.

Whether or not the 49ers win, Bosa can take solace in the fact that he will not have to travel very far to get back home for the offseason.
