San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa and 2020 first-round draft pick Javon Kinlaw haven't even played a game together yet, but Bosa knows that Kinlaw is a perfect addition to the team. Kinlaw was brought in to replace DeForest Buckner, who the team traded this offseason to the Indianapolis Colts.

Bosa said of the former South Carolina standout during the 49ers’ State of the Franchise virtual event on 49ers.com via Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports:

“Oh, man, he just fits our scheme so perfectly,”

With the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing, Kinlaw hasn't been able to go to the team's Santa Clara practice facility. Bosa knows that Kinlaw has been eager to get around his new 49ers teammates and play football. He also knows that Kinlaw is a smart guy, and expects him to pick up everything quickly.

“I know Kris is champing at the bit to get him in the building and get him doing some get-offs … I’m just so excited to play with the caliber of player like that.

“it’s going to be interesting to see how he picks everything up, not being in the building. He looks like he’s going to be a great fit. He seems like a great kid.”

Kinlaw is expected to be a starter right away for the 49ers in their base defensive package. Kinlaw is an elite defender who thrives against the run. The front of the 49ers defense, led by Bosa, was already strong, and adding Kinlaw is going to continue to make the front four a focal point.
