Raheem Mostert was unable to finish the second half of the San Francisco 49ers' Sunday night victory over the Los Angeles Rams due to an ankle injury. Following his early exit, Kyle Shanahan expressed his belief that Mostert will likely be placed on the injured reserve list.

After the game concluded, Raheem Mostert was diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain. And now that he's headed to the IR list, he will be required to miss a minimum of three games for the 49ers.

Before leaving Sunday's game, Mostert was having plenty of success on the ground versus the Rams. The former undrafted running back out of Purdue carried the ball 17 times for 65 yards, along with two receptions for 11 yards.

This is the second injury that Mostert has had to deal with this season after sustaining a sprained MCL back in Week 2 versus the New York Jets. Mostert returned to the 49ers' offense in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins.

As a result of the 28-year-old being sidelined for multiple weeks, Jerick McKinnon will likely see more touches in the offense. Also, JaMycal Hasty, who is an undrafted rookie, could see more playing time.

Upon Mostert being ruled out for the rest of the game on Sunday, it was Hasty who carried the ball more than McKinnon. While McKinnon saw six carries for 18 yards on Sunday night, Hasty had nine attempts for 37 yards.

Throughout the season, the 49ers have had to deal with an abundance of injuries to both sides of the ball. The earliest that Mostert could return from his high-ankle sprain is in Week 10 versus the New Orleans Saints.
